just finished baking brownies for tomorrow's(or rather,today's) Christmas celebration.

thinking through the events of my most recent holiday in South Korea, and comparing it with my trip to Japan earlier this year, I realize that my feelings fluctuate as the holiday progresses.
I shall call this the "Holiday Feelings Curve", based on a 7 day tour of a foreign country.

Day 1: YIPPEE YAY YAY YAY I AM SO EXCITED TO BE GOING TO ANOTHER COUNTRY!!!

Day 2: This is so fun I love this place so many different sights and sounds!!!!!

Day 3: Why do I always have to wake up so early???? I hate this place I regret coming here, I want to go back to Singapore now!!!!!

Day 4: Hmm...Okay fine, I guess I could get used to this place, it isn't so bad after all...

Day 5: Lalala~ I kind of like this place..

Day 6: OMG 1 DAY LEFT??? NONONONONONONONO I LOVE THIS PLACE I DON'T WANT TO GO BACK!!!!!!!

Day 7: Back in Singapore already???? WTF NOOOOOOO (starts whining and ranting about Singapore)


I miss my super awesome amazing incredible patient reassuring bilingual Korean tour guide who, as an extra bonus, looks damn, damn hot in a suit.


my dry skin is the bane of my existence.
also, I regret not getting a new nose when I was in Korea.

Today I want to express my gratitude for whatever coincidence or whim of fate that saw me paired up with my current partner for my research project. Okay so technically we're each doing separate projects and all, but we still need to work together a lot to create materials for the experiments, coordinate information, and bond over our mutual suffering. went to the anime festival today. or rather,yesterday, seeing as it's already past twelve. the highlight of the day was the unexpected visit to Hershey's Chocolate world. freaking giant bars of chocolate and Hershey's kisses stacked everywhere, how could I resist???? the only problem is, WHY ARE THERE NO GIANT BARS OF THE COOKIES AND CREAM CHOCOLATE?????? the giant bars of chocolate only come in milk or dark chocolate,which,granted, is delicious as well, but still, WHITE CHOCOLATE(if you're about to write some stupid comment about how white chocolate isn't really chocolate, shut up) yes, the anime festival was a disappointment. oh, and you may have noticed that I no longer have a tagboard. Another semester over. Well, almost over, just finals left and it'll be done. In the midst of all the stress and whatnot, I often forget to be grateful for all the good things that have happened this semester, and sometimes I get so caught up in my thoughts going round in a destructive spiral that it seems as if nothing good did happen. But they did. I have definitely been a more functional and socially adjusted member of society this semester. In fact, I do believe that this was the semester where I've been my most sociable, talking to new people, making new friends, trying out new experiences and actively working to change my dysfunctional thought patterns and behaviours.
